Los alumnos del cuartil más pobre de América Latina fueron los que más mejoraron la calidad de sus aprendizajes en las pruebas PISA en comparación con todas las regiones de países que participaron en la prueba entre 2000 y 2012. Así lo evidencia el libro América Latina después de PISA, presentado en la Biblioteca Nacional, frente a autoridades y referentes de la comunidad educativa nacional e internacional. La publicación fue editada por CIPPEC, Natura y el Instituto Natura.
La publicación repasa los resultados de las cinco ediciones de las pruebas PISA desde 2000 y busca demitificar y “des-explicar” muchas de las afirmaciones comunes que de allí se obtienen cuando se realiza una mirada rápida.
Así, entre 2000 y 2012, América Latina fue la región que más aumentó sus resultados de aprendizaje en las pruebas PISA y la que más incrementó su tasa de escolarización en el nivel secundario. Un dato esperanzador: el cuartil de mayor pobreza de América Latina logró la mayor alza de logros de aprendizaje en PISA de todas las regiones comparadas en todos los cuartiles de nivel socioeconómico.
“Uno de los datos más destacados del libro es que entre 2006 y 2013 los siete países analizados lograron disminuir la repitencia en el nivel primario y al mismo tiempo seis de ellos (Perú, Chile, Brasil, Colombia, Argentina y México) lograron mejorar la calidad de los aprendizajes (medidos por las pruebas SERCE y TERCE de la UNESCO)”, precisó Axel Rivas. Según explicó el autor, esto demuestra que es un mito la idea del facilismo, que indica que los alumnos pasan de grado sin los aprendizajes. “Puede ocurrir en muchos casos, pero a nivel sistémico la evidencia demuestra que los alumnos de la región aprenden más repitiendo menos. Son grandes noticias que contrastan la constante visión negativa sobre la docencia y las escuelas en la región. Nos deberían hacer reflexionar acerca de las razones por las cuales decimos valorar la educación y desaprovechamos las oportunidades de festejar cuando mejora la calidad educativa. Esto no quita que haya enormes desafíos pendientes, como los estudiamos en el libro”, señaló Rivas.
Los resultados muestran que la Argentina mejoró la calidad educativa en el nivel primario, al igual que la mayoría de los países de la región. En ese nivel también se redujo la repitencia durante el período estudiado (de 6,1% a 4,2%). En cambio la calidad educativa en el nivel secundario muestra una estabilidad en los resultados desde 2000 a 2012, con una caída en 2006 y una mejora en 2009. También allí se observa una mayor repitencia y sobreedad, que no disminuyeron durante el período estudiado.
La Argentina también se destaca por ser el país de la región que más disminuyó su desigualdad en los aprendizajes de los alumnos en las pruebas PISA entre los alumnos del cuartil más pobre y los del cuartil de mayor nivel socioeconómico.
