OLX, plataforma líder de clasificados online en el mundo, designó a Ariel Meyer como nuevo Head of Markets para el mercado Latinoamericano.
Meyer va a estar a cargo de las operaciones de once mercados en la región: Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Panamá, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Bolivia, Uruguay y Venezuela.
“Clasificados es una forma de e-commerce de naturaleza local donde las transacciones ocurren dentro de una zona geográfica o entre miembros de una comunidad. En países donde el desarrollo de las comunidades alcanza una magnitud importante, clasificados pasan a ser canales muy importantes dentro de la industria del e-commerce de ese país”, comentó Meyer. “OLX es líder mundial en clasificados online, y queremos impulsar nuestro negocio en el mercado latinoamericano. Vemos que las transacciones realizadas a través de OLX no sólo tienen un impacto significativo en la economía colaborativa de las comunidades donde operamos, pero también brindan oportunidades de negocios a personas que lo necesitan”.
Previo a su ingreso a OLX, Meyer lideró el equipo de Emerging Growth Markets durante cuatro años en eBay Classifieds, que incluyó operaciones de mercado en México y Sudáfrica y un equipo central de productos y tecnología con base en San Francisco y China.
Antes de eBay, Meyer co-fundó una empresa de pagos móviles P2P llamada Zippio, y también ocupó cargos de liderazgo en Marketing y Desarrollo de Negocios en compañías multinacionales de bienes de consumo, como Bacardi, Fosters, y LVMH.
Estudió Ingeniería Industrial en el Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA) y tiene un MBA de la Haas School of Business de la Universidad de Berkeley. Vivió durante 20 años en Estados Unidos.
